Training

During the summers of 2016 through 2020 the Cyber Resilience Institute, through the Sports-ISAO, ran  Internship programs for graduate and undergraduate students in computer science, information technology, law, and international affairs. In 2020 we expanded to a mixed cohort of mid-career professionals and college students. The Internship is comprised of an intensive training program followed by a live-fire pop-up Security Operations Center (SOC) experience.

Training is delivered on a virtual platform and students get hands-on practice with cyber threat hunting best practices on a threat intelligence platform. The pop-up SOC is scheduled around a global sports event like the Olympics or the World Cup.

Solving the hard problems in the information warfare and asymmetric cyberattack environment is the hallmark of the Cyber Resilience Institute.  In 2017, we took on the difficult challenge of designing a structure for generating market forces to counter the lack of appetite for cyber solutions in the down-market segment across the entire national footprint.

One outcome of our efforts was establishment of the CrowdWatch, the beginnings of a crowdsourced model.  In just a few months in 2017, CRI successfully recruited approximately 100 college students and professionals into what is now called the CrowdWatch.

In 2017 and 2018, CRI  started socializing university club formation with university oversight and participation. In 2020 we expanded to a mixed cohort of mid-career professionals and college students. The Internship is comprised of an intensive training program followed by a live-fire pop-up Security Operations Center (SOC) experience.

Efforts to affiliate the initiative with leading community, regional and cyber organizations have also begun, including:  MS-ISAC, Global Cyber Alliance, Alliance for Securing Democracy, ISAO Standards Organization, Pacific NorthWest Economic Region, All Hazards Consortium, Chicago FIRST, IT-ISAC, E-ISAC, Retail ISAC, CyberUSA, CyberMaryland, CyberHawaii, Northeast Ohio Cyber Consortium, and other groups.

In 2020 we welcomed the two newest members of our family of sponsors, NCC and GRF.
