Basketball Trades and Favorites

Although the NBA regular season has not started yet, there is a lot happening.

The Cleveland Cavaliers signed point guard Toney Douglas to a contract. The terms of the contract have not been released because of team and league policy. Douglas appeared in 61 games last season when he played for the New Orleans Pelicans. He has played for six teams throughout his seven-year career.[1]

In an unfortunate incident, 2016 Rookie of the Year favorite Ben Simmons suffered a foot fracture that will require surgery. This means that he will likely be unable to play for the next three months. Dario Saric, Brandon Ingram, Kris Dunn, Joel Embiid, and Buddy Hield are also favorites for this award.[2]

The NBA suspended Darren Collison eight games for domestic violence. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor domestic battery charge for an incident involving his wife on May 30. His suspension will be unpaid, causing him to lose $380,324.[3]

There is a rumor that the New York Knicks might enter an agreement with the Los Angeles Clippers. The Knicks are reportedly looking to sign the Clippers’ forward Blake Griffin, and they are expected to give up their forward Kristaps Porzingis in exchange for him.[4]

So far, the professional basketball regular season has not started, there is still a lot happening behind the scenes.
